The RDC will follow the example of the recent SM Festival race and award two $75 gift certificates from I/O Port Racing, along with two free RDC memberships.

It is a good idea to check Fastrack every month; there are some important items (and some we didn’t know about) that you MUST be aware of:

1) HANS. Effective January 1st, 2012, you will be required to have an approved HANS device; no more kart collars.  I know most of our members are probably already aware of this but it is a good guess that some will show up for that season opener and learn about it when they fail annual gear tech, and not be able to race.

Taking our own advice and checking it every month, we learn in this month’s August issue, that:

2) MEDICAL. Under consideration (out for member comment) is the proposal to relax the medical reporting period, specifically allowing a two year medical reporting for those between 60 and 70. Over 70 retains  the  one year reporting period.

Just a note that we have now posted the application for the 2011 Will Pool Memorial Scholarship on the tab at left. This will be for the Spring 2012 Region School.  Note that for this year, no form is required; just a simple single page letter will suffice.  Remember, it is open to anyone who has been in service to the Region, including any Worker Crew and the Autocross Program.

We usually receive many fine and deserving applications, and it is always a difficult decision for the RDC Board to choose, but this is a wonderful opportunity to see a racetrack from a different perspective, so everyone who is interested is encouraged to apply.

The RDC is pleased to be able to contribute this weekend to Malinda’s budget for Saturday Night Social,  so that the dinner the Social Crew hosts for Region Workers  can be opened up to everyone; all Drivers, their crews, and friends are invited.  So, save a very hot trip into town,  and enjoy the company of the Region family. Hello RDC members and guest. There are a few changes to the site here you might want to look at.

Fastrack – We have moved the direct link to the SCCA National “Fastrack”  to it’s own tab up there at the top, so now it is available in a single click and you will not have to navigate through the National’s menu.  That should save hours.

Home Page –  This page is now a rolling update of RDC and Northern California Region activities, so the content will be updated as items of interest occur, and some newsletter content will also be  included now. The “Welcome to the RDC” introduction is now over on the “About the RDC” tab.

Face Book – Don’t forget you can upload photos and videos to the RDC Facebook Page. The link is in the left column.
